I have recently spent the past two years working on a 22m powerboat, based mainly in the Med. I was working as 2nd stewardess and was responsible for much of the day-to-day running of the vessel.

What advice would you give to someone considering the yachting industry as a career?
The advice I would give to someone considering the yachting industry is to be completly honest, and learn to keep your bosses business to yourself. Confidentiality is now a huge part of the yachting world, and if someone can't trust you, they won't hire you. Getting on with your crew, is also very important.
What do you enjoy most about working in the yachting industry?
What I enjoy most about the yachting industry is the wide variety of oppurtunities on offer and the range of people you get to socialise with and meet. It may be hard work, but it's well worth it.

Why did you choose to work in the yachting industry?
I chose the yachting industry because I have been interested in yachts and marine pursuits since I was a child, it also provided me with a chance to learn new skills and travel the world.
What are your ultimate goals in your yachting career?
My Ultimate goals are to work my way up through the ranks to become head of my department on board. I would relish the oppurtunity to intrdocue newcomers to the industry and teach them what I have learnt, while being responsible for my crew and guests. I hope to continue working on yachts for my forseeable future, allowing me to not only meet some truly amazing people, but to also travel the world and see some amazing sights.
What would you bring to a yacht crew?
What I would bring to a yacht crew is a different approach to everyday problems, along with a great sense of fun and the ability to work with a wide range of people. I embrace being part of a crew, and believe that it is a prime oppurtunity to learn from other people, and to develop in many skill areas.
