Introduction to Marine Technology NVQ1     

This course is for anyone with a general interest in the boatbuilding and engineering aspects of pleasure and small commercial vessels. Largely practical, it covers light engineering bench skills and engine maintenance operations, as well as an introduction to boatbuilding techniques in wood and fibre reinforced composites. Subjects include: using and communicating technical information, making components from wood based materials, carrying out composite moulding activities and carrying out routine servicing of mechanical equipment.

Duration: 1 year, full-time

Entry requirements: None, however you need an interest in the marine industry and be competent at basic Maths and English
